LUG ‘EM AROUND FOR THE HOLIDAYS

By PamelaAnn Campbell

Do you have any idea what a Puddle Jumper Bag is?  I won’t keep you guessing, it’s an all-purpose bag fit for work and play, and well-suited to my frequent travels.

The bag is one of many travel items sold by lug, a company dedicated to travelers with this online statement: “Not only do we care about how you travel, we care about how you feel when you travel. Our products are specifically designed to keep you organized, in control, and looking good.”

I like that. The key to enjoying travel is to be organized, especially at airports where security checks can be a nightmare if you end up in the wrong line.

The PJ, as I like to call my favorite new tote, is truly multi-purpose. It stowed two cameras, a full-size digital SLR and an older model digital that is twice the size of the new pocket-size versions. The best feature is that the main compartment still had space for a Nap Sac and Ticket Tango Travel Wallet, both lug products as well. I almost forgot to mention its inner pockets, one for storage, the other a secure zippered section, and a bottle holder that doubled as my safe for my little box of costume jewelry.

Five outer sections are zippered, the sixth snaps shut magnetically. Two small, zippered square pockets fit my cell phone, tape recorder, digital cards, pocket tissues, etc. and I can even slip in a couple of tea bags or Lactaid tablets in two flap pockets discreetly located at the front of those small pockets. Below is a roomy, built-in cosmetic compartment, complete with a removable (Velcro) mirror and four sections for lipstick, eyeliner, mascara or lip gloss!

On the other side is an easily accessible upper pocket where I put my e-tickets, itinerary, travel insurance policy and zipped it shut. I used the lower, see-through mesh pocket for miscellaneous items such as sunscreen, bug spray, and sunglass case, but it’s sizeable enough for a pair of sneakers.

I truly felt in control, knowing exactly where to look for certain items, and yes, the quilted bag looks very chic. The base is covered by a transparent plastic protector and held in place by four metal feet. And yes, I’ve used it as a weekender bag and it’s also great to pack gear for a trip to the gym..

The Ticket Tango Travel Wallet is great for keeping boarding passes, passport and e-tickets handy. The fully zippered wallet opens book-style with an inner zipper pocket on each side for coins and notes, four slide-in card pockets and pen holder. I found it easy to carry using the wrist strap, and after checking in I was able to tuck it into Puddle Jumper.

Don’t leave home without it, and I’m not talking about that credit card, I’m referring to lug’s Nap Sac, currently featured in Oprah’s O magazine.

It looks like a mini pillow, but my new travel companion is easy to convert into separates. Once I’ve inflated the pillow and zipped the cover over it, I then unwrap the blanket and settle down to enjoy my flight in warmth and comfort (and there’s even a built-in pocket for my bipod.) How cool is that!

The Puddle Jumper measures 15.5” x 14.5” x 7” and is available in eight colors (midnight black, crimson red, fog gray, chocolate brown, grass green, ocean teal, rose pink and sunset orange. )

MSR$75

The Ticket Tango Travel Wallet costs $28 and comes in all colors listed above, but midnight black.

The Nap Sac also sells for $28, but is only available in chocolate brown, rose pink and sunset orange.
